If you’ve owned a pet, you can understand the love and joy that is brought by their presence, but you also understand the pain that comes with saying goodbye. It’s a horrible chain of different reactions—disbelief, shock, sadness, emotional and physical pain, where it feels like someone opened your chest and removed your heart, your whole body trembling, and my personal favorite—guilt.
